This was designed for people from Europe, Australia and Japan. People from those countries are able to qualify for a Working Holiday Visa (also called a Youth Mobility Visa or a Young Workers Exchange Visa). Other requirements for this program are intermediate English, and the ability to work for at least 12 weeks.
As part of this program, WISH will place you in a job before you leave your country. For some current job openings, please click on ‘jobs’ at the top of this page. Jobs are available in Vancouver, Toronto, Niagara, the Rockies, Whistler and more …
In addition to placing you in a job, participants in the working holiday program will also receive:
- airport pick-up
- 2 nights accommodation in Vancouver or Toronto
- tax card (SIN Card)
- bank account set-up
- orientation set-up
- on-going in-country support

This is our unpaid internship program. This is ideal for young students interested in improving their English in a real-life setting, in meeting Canadians, and in getting a valuable reference from a North American employer.
It can be taken as part of a work and study course, or on its own. If you do want to take the Professional Internship Program on its own, you will need to be able to qualify for an internship visa. Internship visas are only available in Western Europe.
In order to participate in this program you will need to meet the following requirements:
- upper Intermediate English (especially spoken English)
- at least 19 years old
- qualify for an internship visa -or- currently enrolled at a Canadian ESL school
- be available to intern for at least 6 weeks
Internships can be done in some of the following industries: law, architecture, accounting, finance, graphic design, IT, events planning, marketing, international trade, and more … All internships are available in both Vancouver and Toronto. Complete internship descriptions are available here.

The paid internship program is very similar to the unpaid program. This can be taken as part of a work and study course, or on its own.
In order to participate in this program you must meet the following requirements:
- advanced English (both spoken and written)
- 1 year’s professional experience in your chosen internship field
- at least 20 years old
- qualify for an internship visa -or- currently enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary school
Internships can be done in Information Technology (IT), Business Administration, or Hospitality Management. IT and Business Administration internships are available in Vancouver and Toronto. Hospitality management internships are available almost anywhere in Canada.
IT Internships include network administration, software development, quality assurance, web applications development, and database design.
Business Administration Internships include, accounting, and administrative assistance.
Hospitality Management Internships include: front desk, night auditor, back office, food and beverage administration, and reservations.

The Hire Intern Program is a unique training and internship program that was designed to help recent immigrants overcome barriers to employment in Canada. This program provides cultural-training and internships for professionals in the information technology sector.
In order to participate in this program you must meet the following requirements:
- Canadian citizen or permanent resident
- Advanced spoken English
- 3 years professional experience in your profession [note: this includes experience from your native country]
The training portion of the Hire Intern Program will help you learn about job search techniques, and the cultural ’soft-skills’ that may be preventing you from landing a good job in Canada. Following your 4-week part-time evening training period you will do a 4-12 week internship.
Your internship will be a paid [at a stipend rate] and is available in the following fields:
- Web Design
- Database Administration
- Web Applications Development
- Software Development and Services
- Network Administration

The Post-Graduation Placement Program allows places students in jobs and allows them to access the Post-Graduation Work Permit. That work permit gives students who have graduated from a participating Canadian post-secondary institution the chance to gain valuable Canadian work experience in their field of studies. This program allows all participants to work up to one year after they have finished their studies in Canada.
In order to participate in this program you must meet the following requirements:
- advanced English (both spoken and written)
- you must have successfully completed a program in a public post-secondary institution (ESL studies are not eligible)
- that program must have lasted at least 9 months
Internships can be done in Information Technology (IT), Business Administration, or Hospitality Management. IT and Business Administration internships are available in Vancouver and Toronto. Hospitality management internships are available almost anywhere in Canada.
