Thank you for your interest in hosting a WISH intern or young worker. WISH is currently looking for host companies in all industries in all locations accross Canada.
While we have more than a dozen different work experience programs, our clients can be placed into three broadly drawn groups:
Unpaid professional interns are typically students at local ESL schools. They are taking part in unpaid internships in order to add North American business experience to their resumes, practice speaking English in a professional setting and meet Canadians.
These interns are able to work for between 4 weeks and 24 weeks. They are able to work using something called a 'C30' work and travel visa, which they receive through their school. Interns may perform administrative work, bookkeeping, architectural design, IT support, events logistics and much more.
Paid professional interns are the largest group of interns from WISH. Our basic requirements for people in this program is 1 year's related experience, related education, and advanced spoken English.
These interns are able to work for between 6 weeks and 1 year - though many are open to staying permanently. They are able to work using something called a 'C30' work and travel visa, or also using special classes of internship visas only available to Europeans. Interns in the paid program work in Information Technology, business adminstration, general office work, and hospitality. Paid interns are often paid a stipend - allowable under the BC and Ontario labour codes. Stipends range for $200 - $400 per week.
